Momofuku Milk Bar crack pie
A few days ago, I noticed a tweet in my stream from @LATimesFood. The linked recipe was for Momofuku Milk Bar’s crack pie. Since much has been written about the desserts at Momofuku Milk Bar and because I had never been there, let alone eaten a slice of a $44 pie, I decided I would give the recipe a try.
Like the other recipes in the Momofuku cookbook, this one had a number of steps that needed to be followed to end up with the finished dish. For example, to create the oatmeal crust, you first have to prepare the dough, bake it, then crumble the resulting “cookie” to create the final pie shell. The filling called for milk powder, which would have been difficult for me to find, if I did not already have some on hand.
Once you get past the hurdles, this recipe was a cinch to throw together. The folks at the LA Times, liked eating this warm. I enjoyed a slice right out of the freezer. Sweet and buttery, this pie is extremely rich.
If you want to make this, the recipe can be found here.

ha! i’m photographing mine right now
[Santos, Ha! What did you think? I really liked it. I think I might want to cut down on some of the sugar though and add more milk powder.]
you should try the recipe for his bacon, apple & kim chee salad, that was ono!
[Kat, I think I am going to try that even though I am trying to stay away from meat. I did also make the fried apple pie with miso butterscotch and sour cream ice cream. i thought the flavor of the miso butterscotch was interesting.]
Aiyah, now the hubby wants me to make this recipe. will experiment and let u know how that went. Hugs from SF – The Reyes!
[Maria,This pie is really rich so be forewarned! You can probably only eat one thin slice of the pie every couple of days. Make sure you have lots of friends to share it with.

Last time I went to Momofuku Milk Bar, I got a whole crack pie. I thought it was super buttery and very sweet. My boyfriend thought it tasted like pecan pie without the pecans. I gotta say, I kinda agree with him.
[Cleone, I thought it was buttery as well and extremely rich. Unlike the LA Times writer, I felt that this pie was much better cold. Funny you should mention pecan pie. My neighbor thought the same thing.]
it was okay. ._.
[Santos, I kind of liked it, but couldn't eat the whole pie...at least not in one sitting.
