Tomato Tartlets

Tomato Tartlets
Ho Farms tomatoes, Surfing Goat Dairy chevre.

These tartlets made at home one Saturday afternoon with some Ho Farms tomatoes that I picked up at Costco. The tomatoes were first tossed with `alaea salt, cracked black pepper and extra virgin olive oil before being roasted. The crust is a simple pâte brisée.  To tie everything together, I used a spoonful of Surfing Goat Dairy chevre and some finely julienned basil.

ooo, I like it! I’ve got TONS of basil! No tomatoes yet, but any day now. I like how Costco supports small farms by selling their produce. They also support small businesses with their road shows. A very good thing. Bet you yummed out with those!

[Jo, You bet I did! I absolutely love tomatoes and these made such a delicious treat to go along with a frisee salad dressed with a little lemon juice, olive oil and some black pepper.]

Hey Reid – Looks great….like something to be enjoyed al fresco.

[Kirk, Thanks! I definitely enjoyed these. Unfortunately, it has been too hot to eat outside.]

Hey Reid,
Okay, nothing to do with tomatoes, but wanted to say that I just read your comments in Conde Nast’s Concierge.com article, “Famous Hawaii Locals on What They Love Most.” Congrats on making the list of “Famous Hawaii Locals” along with the likes of Alan Wong, Carrie Ann Inaba, Bryan Clay and Carlos Santana?

[Hey Kyle, Thanks! I am not sure why I missed the print edition as I had been corresponding with Hanya Yanagihara for quite sometime. In addition, I did offer some advice to the folks that came over to shoot Man vs. Food -- I was just disappointed that they weren't able to provide more information on the actual day of the shoot. I would have enjoyed being there to meet Adam.]

Hi Reid,

Just getting around to checking out the new site – I don’t know if you remember me, but I asked you about what type of cameras you use. I used to use your blog as a guide of new and interesting places to eat. I’m glad to see you’re still keeping up with the food blogging. Have you had a chance to check out Sweet Home Cafe in that strip mall across from Old Stadium Park? I’ve heard good things about their hot pot.

Cheers,
Colette

[Colette, I definitely remember you and I thank you for continuing to stop by the blog every now and again. I have indeed tried Sweet Home Cafe and am happy to see that they are quite busy these days...a lot more so than when I first stopped by there a couple of years back! Hope to hear from you again soon!]
